A detective with New Scotland Yard, this polite well-spoken Scot is the chief investigative officer in the murder of Doctor Lionel Trollope. He interviewed Dr Bartlett and was given a lead about the Tall Man.

He has also spoken to both Nathaniel Browne and Andrew Saunders about their encounters with the Tall Man, and has an identikit picture prepared with Browne's help.

He is aware of the possible links to Alexander Roby and the St Agnes Asylum murders and is in contact with the Herefordshire police regarding that matter.
