A detective with New Scotland Yard, this polite well-spoken Scot is the chief investigative officer in the murder of Doctor Lionel Trollope. He interviewed Dr Bartlett and was given a lead about the Tall Man.

He also spoke to Nathaniel Browne and Andrew Saunders about their encounters with the Tall Man, and had an identikit picture prepared with Browne's help.

He becomes aware of the possible links to Alexander Roby and the St Agnes Asylum murders and contacts the Herefordshire police regarding that matter, although the party never hears of any outcomes from these enquiries.
