The travelling companion of Miss Francesca Nicholson, Patricia is the daughter of a wealthy banker and lives a quiet life of voluntary work and solitary pleasures. She likes to read romantic novels such as the work of Jane Austen or the Brontes and dresses conservatively, although she is quite pretty when she makes the effort.

En route to India she found herself the object of Julian Knight's affections which led to Captain Withers stepping in to protect her from that obvious cad. Consequently she ended up spending a lot of time with Withers, and despite the Captain's efforts to keep things purely platonic seems to have somewhat fallen for him.

When the Captain rejected her declaration of love, Patricia ran into the arms of Julian Knight, a bad mistake that ended with Knight raping her. On the dock at Bombay, she attempted suicide by leaping into the water, and was rescued by Withers and Andrew Saunders. She told Withers of the rape, after which the Captain caught up with Knight, beat him to within an inch of his life and handed him over to the local authorities.

In a show of great courage, Patricia publicly accused Knight of rape, and he was taken away. Patrica was left to recover with her friend Miss Nicholson.
