The travelling companion of Miss Francesca Nicholson, Patricia was the daughter of a wealthy banker, living a quiet life of voluntary work and solitary pleasures. She liked to read romantic novels such as the work of Jane Austen or the Brontes and dresses conservatively, although she is quite pretty when she makes the effort.

En route to India she found herself the object of Julian Knight's affections which led to Captain Withers stepping in to protect her from that obvious cad. Consequently she ended up spending a lot of time with Withers, and despite the Captain's efforts to keep things purely platonic seemed to have somewhat fallen for the dashing officer.

When Withers rejected her declaration of love, Patricia ran into the arms of Julian Knight, a mistake that ended with Knight taking advantage of her fragile state. On the dock at Bombay, she attempted suicide by leaping into the water, and was rescued by Withers and Saunders. She told Withers of Knight's advances, after which the Captain beat Knight to within an inch of his life, before and handed him over to the local authorities.

In a show of great courage, Patricia publicly accused Knight of his sexual assault, and he was taken away. Patricia was left to recover with her friend Miss Nicholson.
