In early December 1928, a cult lead by Montague Edwards, with the assistance of Alexander Roby somehow brought Carcosa physically to Earth. The city invaded this reality in Scotland, appearing on the shores of Loch Mullardoch which apparently became the lake of Hali.
Carcosa on Earth appears as a gracious city of indeterminate age; there is nothing immediately in evidence to place it past the seventeenth or eighteenth centuries. It is laid out around half the shoreline of a calm lake — the other half is lightly forested with firs and birch — elegant buildings rise away up the steepslopes from the water arranged about plazas, avenues, pools, canals, and formal parks and gardens. There is architecture of all kinds here but most of the city has a formal, Italianate feel with white marble bell-towers, ornate relief work, small bridges, columns, red roof tiles, and marble domes.
